WHAT TO BOOK FIRST for your wedding?

You’re engaged and about to plan your dream wedding, but where to start and what to book first?

With so many options on venues and suppliers, and the constant inspiration from social media, it can all feel very overwhelming.

We’ve listed our best advice to help you get started!

Wedding Planner

If you’re thinking about hiring a Wedding Planner, it’s a good idea to loop them into the process as early as possible. Most Wedding Planners offer a free and non-binding first meeting. Explore your options and find the right one for you. Remember, that you will be working closely for a long period, and you must feel comfortable with this person, so you do not have to spend time over-explaining your wishes and dreams due to different styles. You’re probably eager to book a venue or set a date for the wedding, but reaching out to a Wedding Planner before booking the venue can help you achieve greater benefits.

VENUE

Now is the time to book the venue!

If you are planning to get married in Southern Europe, we recommend booking the venue 1-2 years in advance for the most options.

Pay attention to whether the venue work with exclusive partners.

Checkout the venues social media for inspiration and setup options. If you wish to use several areas at the venue, make sure to clarify the use of these before signing a contract.

If your heart is set on a specific church/ceremonial venue, ask about the vacancy before booking the wedding venue.

PHOTOGRAPHER

It might seem surprising that the photographer should be booked so early in the process, but just like a venue, photographers’ availability is limited.

Try to refrain from sending references or instructions, but instead make sure to check the photographer's style and expression before you decide. This way you ensure to receive homogenous and vibrant material.

REMAINING SUPPLIERS

Once you’ve ensured the above, it’s time to reach out to the remaining suppliers.

If you don't have a Wedding Planner, start with an overview of what you need based on your budget and guest list. If necessary, make an overview of "need to have" and "nice to have".

Always make sure you read contracts and payment terms thoroughly before you agree to, or sign anything.
